Cadillac Repair: 93 Eldorado, service reminder, light message

I just purchased the car a month ago. The service ride light message is always on. The service engine light comes on a couple of minutes after it starts driving. The car has 90K on it. Is it easy to run the codes what tools do you need. Does the service engine light come on for factory reccommended services when they are not done on time. Thanks Ryan

Hi Ryan, Running the codes is easy. All you need to do is push off and warmer on the cliamate control panel for 3-5 seconds and the codes can be read. It would be best for you to get a shop manual for this car because the procedures varry depending on what type of suspension type you have. One you ground out a pin on the ALDL and the other codes are read through the dash. Then you would need a book to interpret the codes. There isn't any service reminder light. If the check engine light turns on it means engine codes are stored. Usually with the suspension light comming on it means that you have a strut that isn't able to switch valveing but there are other reasons also. Bill
