Chevrolet Repair: 2004 GMC 3500

Question
QUESTION: Hi,
My wipers only run in high mode and the washer mode doesn't function.
Checked fuses, swapped relays, replaced turn sig switch and control board
On wiper motor. I have wiggled cleaned and assembled connectors with die electric
Grease. Motor only has power to one terminal. Ran a jumper ground to gear case of
wiper motor. Did not change anything. Do you have any idea what I can check next and where?
I apppeciate any help that you may have.
Thanks, Brian

ANSWER: HI BRIAN,,I AM NOT AT WORK NOW BUT I DO REMEMBER THERE WAS A TSB ON THIS [TECH SERVICE BULLETIN]
WHERE THERE WAS A OPEN WIRE BETWEEN THE BCM [BODY CONTROL MODULE] AND WIPER MOTOR IT SELF. THIS WAS NOT A RECALL. THIS WAS JUST TO INFORM US THAT THERE MAYBE A PROBLEM WITH THIS...THIS IS NOT A FUSE OR RELAY PROBLEM BECAUSE YOU HAVE HIGH SPEED..DO THE WIPERS PARK OK ??? I AM VERY SURPRISED THAT THE PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD DID NOT FIX THIS ,THEY HAD TONS OF PROBLEMS WITH THIS BOARD..YOU COULD TAKE THIS TO A SHOP THAT HAS GM SOFTWARE WITH A GOOD SCAN TOOL AND HAVE THEM DO A CIRCUIT TEST TO SEE IF THE BCM IS DEMANDING THE MOTOR TO TURN ON. THIS WAY YOU COULD TELL IF IT HAS A BCM FAULT OR A WIRING PROBLEM...I HOPE THIS GETS YOU IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION AND GOOD LUCK TO YOU,,,TOM...

QUESTION: Tom,
Thank you for your response. You asked if the wipers park? Yes they do. Is there anythting I can check, or any way I can test for a problem. Tried to get a schematic from the internet and had no luck. I have always had lets say less than pleasing results when I've taken a vehichle in for repairs. Not necessarily at the dealers but ....
I will take it in as a last resort though. Again I appreciate all the help.
Thanks again, Brian

Answer
HI BRIAN,YOU SAID YOU REPLACED THE TURN SIGNAL/WIPER SWITCH COMBO ??? I AM SURE THIS IS IT. WELL THE PARK SIDE IS TELLING US THAT THE SWITCH IS WORKING AND THE PARK ASSEMBLY IN THE MOTOR ARE WORKING AS WELL..THE LOW AND MED SPEEDS ARE DIFFERENT FROM THOSE OF COURSE,GOING INTO A RESISTOR..I DO HAVE A WIRING SCHEMATIC FROM MY WORK COMPUTER BUT CAN NOT GET TO THE WEB FROM THERE. BUT I THINK TO SAVE YOU ALOT OF TIME I WOULD TAKE THIS TO A SHOP WITH A SCAN TOOL TO SEE WHAT THE DATA SHOWS..THIS COULD HAVE A FAULTY BCM NOT SENDING A SIGNAL TO THE WIPER MOTOR.ALSO SAVING YOU ALOT OF TIME....GOOD LUCK TO YOU,,,TOM....
