Chevrolet Repair: Leaking coolant, intake leaks, coolant temp

Question
QUESTION: I just performed a pressure check on my cooling system and i am leaking coolant from the valve cover. Its coming from the out of the front on the right cover right next to the temperature sensor. The vehicle is 1994 Chevy 2500 with a 350 motor. I just don't know if its a head gasket or something worse.

ANSWER: HI DAVID, WELL WE KNOW IT CAN'T BE FROM THE VALVE COVER, IT COULD BE LEAKING AT THE COOLANT TEMP SENSOR ITSELF. BUT ARE YOU SURE IT IS NOT LEAKING ON THE TOP SIDE WHERE THE INTAKE MANIFOLD MEETS THE HEAD AND THEN LEAKING DOWN MAKING IT LOOK LIKE THE TEMP SENSOR IS LEAKING...THESE ENGINES DID HAVE INTAKE LEAKS AFTER GETTING SOME MILES ON THEM..WHEN YOU SAY RIGHT VALVE COVER I WILL ASSUME YOU MEAN THE DRIVERS SIDE ???? LET ME KNOW IF YOU CAN GIVE MORE MORE INFO OR PRESS TEST IT AGAIN AND CK FOR THE LEAK SOME MORE. GOOD LUCK TO YOU,,,TOM

QUESTION: It's not leaking at the sensor, when I did the pressure check I watched it come out of the head cover. I should have been more specific, it is on the front passenger head cover, pretty much were the sensor is, but it's not the sensor like I said.

Answer
HI DAVID,SO WHAT YOU ARE SAYING IS THE COOLANT IS COMING OUT OF THE HEAD ITSELF !!!!WELL I GUESS IF THIS WERE MINE I WOULD BE REMOVING THIS VALVE COVER AND PRESSURE TESTING THE SYSTEM AGAIN AND GET A GOOD EYE ON THINGS.IT IS POSSIBLE THE HEAD IS CRACKED LEAKING AROUND THE CASTING SOMEWHERE...THIS IS VERY UNUSUAL...I HAVE NEVER SEEN THIS HAPPEN BEFORE..THIS IS ONE FOR THE BOOKS. IF THIS IS IN FACT WHERE IT IS LEAKING THE HEAD MUST BE CRACKED AROUND A COOLANT PASSAGE LEAKING THROUGH A POROSITY OF THE HEAD . DID THIS ENG OVERHEAT RECENTLY ??? IF SO THIS WOULD EXPLAIN IT..GET BACK TO ME ON THIS I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO KNOW MORE WHEN YOU FIND OUT...TOM..
