QuestionQUESTION: Hello, if you remember several days ago my optra chevrolet was damaged because of timing belt. Well you said 50-50 chances for engine damage. Now its okay and the damage was done to engine. So I got an unlucky one. Anyways, I would like to ask that I have a problem with my optra since i puchased it. When the car is off...and i press brake pedal several times, its immbolizer system turns on..it makes brake much harder..immpossible to press..and steering fixed...This created problems for me several times. For example recently when I tried my car to move with one friend pushing it from front...I was inside and tried to stop it. Eventually I had to use my hand brake...Can you shed some light on this fault?
ANSWER: HI WASEEM,THE POWER BRAKES WORK OFF OF VACUUM BOOSTER..ONCE THE VACUUM INSIDE THE BOOSTER IS USED UP WHICH IS ABOUT 3 TO 5 PUMPS OF THE BRAKE PEDAL WHEN NOT RUNNING... WHEN THE CAR IS OFF THE POWER ASSIST IS GONE,, THE BRAKES WILL WORK BUT YOU NEED TO APPLY ALOT OF PRESSURE,BUT THEY WILL WORK THIS WAY...STEERING WILL BE HARD AS WELL BECAUSE THERE IS NOT POWER ASSIST TO THE STEERING AS WELL, BUT WILL ALSO WORK, BUT WILL BE HARD TO TURN..ALL CARS ARE LIKE THIS....SORRY ABOUT NOT GETTING LUCKY WITH YOUR ENGINE...GOOD LUCK TO YOU,,TOM..

QUESTION: I have now corolla on rent for a few days! automatic 2011...there is no issure like this with brake...as far as i remember.. I will go downstairs now to check this :P...well but I just want to be clear that when it becomes hard..it becomes totally stiff...Not even moving..both brake and steering....Is it the same thing you are pointing out?
AnswerHI WASEEM,THE TOYOTA SHOULD DO THE SAME THING,HARD BRAKE PEDAL WHEN NOT RUNNING AFTER A FEW PUMPS OF THE PEDAL,THE STEERING WILL ALSO BE HARD TO TURN WHEN NOT RUNNING..REMEMBER YOU NEED TO TURN YOUR KEY ON TO UNLCOK THE STERRING WHEEL EVEN IF IT IS NOT RUNNING THIS IS A MUST OR THE STEERING WILL BE LOCKED IN PLACE..HOPE THIS HELPS YOU,,TOM..
