Chevrolet Repair: follow up ques... 2000 Chev fuel pump, jumper cable, new pig

Question
Hi Tom,

I was going to ask a follow up question, but I am not being given the choice to do so.  Here goes.. from start.

2000 Chev Silverado, 4.8L motor, newly installed fuel pump does not seem to be getting signal to kick in and do it's job.  You said to put a direct 12 volt to the fuel pump and try to crank.

Tell me if this will work... jumper cable from battery on truck to the grey wire on the fuel pump.  If that should do, the answer is... the fuel pump still did not kick in.  If this is all good, it probably means the fuel pump itself has a problem.  Am I correct in this assumption?

Thank you once again for your time and assistance.
Sincerely, Jennifer

Answer
HI JEN, YES YOU ARE CORRECT PROVIDING THE GREY WIRE IS STILL THE HOT WIRE ON THE NEW PIG TAIL YOU INSTALLED TO THE PUMP. ALSO MAKE SURE THE GROUND IS GOOD AS WELL. SHOULD BE A BLACK WIRE  I BELIEVE. SO POWER AND GROUND THIS SHOULD START THE PUMP,IF NOT PUMP IS FAULTY...HOPE THIS HELPS YOU TOM..
