Chevrolet Repair: Transmission problem, 98 chevy 3500, chevy 3500, chevy cheyenne

Question
I have a 98 chevy Cheyenne 3500, transmission stopped working.I was driving and heard a turbine sound coming from under the truck, from a stop i hear the sound and barley moves. then would not go at all, I checked Trans fluid, it was over the hot mark, dark brown and smelt burnt. After siting fot a few minutes i could drive it forward and in reverse. Can i change filter and Trans oil, or dose it sound like an sensor or magor mechanical problem. Thank you.

Answer
HI CARLOS, THIS IS NOT A SENSOR FAULT. THIS SOUNDS LIKE INTERNAL DAMAGE, CLUTCHES,DRUMS,FRONT PUMP FAILURE, ETC. THE FACT THAT THE FLUID IS BROWN AND SMELLS BURNT,THIS IS NOT A GOOD SIGN. I AM SORRY TO HAVE TO TELL YOU THIS. I WOULD NOT WASTE MY MONEY ON DRAINING THE FLUID AND REPLACING THE FILTER. I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU. WOULD YOU MIND WHEN YOU LEAVE THIS SITE RATING MY ANSWER. THANKS TOM...
