Chevrolet Repair: Chevy Lumina Coolant Consumption Prob., chevy lumina, radiator fans

Question
What can be causing my chevy lumina 1998 to have a extremely high coolant consumption rate? every few days I have to fill it back up.

I have had the radiator replaced, the water pump replaced, the intake gasket replaced, and several hoses replaced.
My radiator fans kick on about half heat.

I've already spent 1,200 dollars in repairs and still nothing has been fixed.

last time I was at the shop the only thing they said that sounded fishy was "Your head gasket was damaged but didn't need repairs yet." I have not seen any leaks so far.

can someone PLEASE. help me.

Answer
HI TIM, IF YOU ARE NOT FINDING ANY COOLANT ON THE GROUND THERE IS ONLY ONE PLACE LEFT FOR IT TO GO, IN THE CUMBUSTION CHAMBER AND GOING OUT THE EXHUAST SYSTEM. LEAKING FROM THE HEADGASKETS. IF THIS ENGINE EVER OVERHEATED THIS WILL HARM THE HEADGASKETS.. DO YOU EVER SEE ANY WHITE SMOKE FROM THE EXHAUST PIPE ???
DOES THE EXHUAST SMELL FUNNY [SWEET??? WOULD SUGGEST REMOVING THE SPARK PLUGS AND PRESSURE TESTING THE COOLING SYSTEM AND SEE IF YOU HEAR ANY LEAKS IN THE CYLINDERS,OR FILL EACH CYLINDER WITH COMPRESSED AIR AND SEE IF THERE ARE ANY AIR BUBBLES IN THE RADAITOR COOLANT. IF SO, YOU FOUND YOUR PROBLEM. I KNOW THIS IS NOT GOOD NEWS.. HOPE THIS HELPS TOM..
