Chevrolet Repair: Brake Lights/ Turn signal, brake light switch, gmc suburban

Question
QUESTION: I have a 93 GMC Suburban and one day my brake lights decided to
go out on me, as u know the turn signal is the same bulb, i
have checked the fuses and changed the bulbs... and thy still
arent working, could u give me a clue please

ANSWER: Is it just one side or all of them? If it is all of them, I would look at the wiring or ground for the truck. Check to see if you have power at the connector and ground at the connector for the circuit board that the lights plug into. If there is both power and ground then you probably have 2 bad circuit boards. If not, It could be the multifunction switch in the dash, but that normally only affects the turn signals. The brake light switch normally only affects the brake lights. But weirder things have happened. These are the things I would check.

QUESTION: the connectors are working and getteing power fine, someone
told me it could be the turn siginal switch because it wires up
with the brakes, but ive never heard that before, have u?

Answer
It could be as the multifunction switch powers you hazards and everything. Push you hazard button to see it the hazards work. if they do, they will flash on the front. If they don't, you'll probably need a multifunction switch. You can test by pushing the hazard switch in out out real fast. Most of the time, dirt on the contacts causes this problem and you can at least get a good enough connection to test it like this.
