Chevrolet Repair: Classic chevy truck troubles, classic chevy truck, negative battery cable

My 68 c-10 battery isn't holding a charge. Thought it was the alternator. Had it tested. It passed.  I have abused the battery in the past year while I was building the truck. Plus the negative battery cable is attached to the alternator bracket on top.  And is kind of loose. Should it ne grounded to the frame.  My healights are dim

brad, you should run a ground to the frame and one to the engine , they should be tight
and clean. you said you had the alternator checked , did you have the battery load tested ?
If not , make sure the battery is at a full charge and have that done. most auto parts
stores will do this for free.
