Chevrolet Repair: 2000 Z71 Chevy Tahoe, fuel pressure regulator, chevy tahoe

Question
I am having problems starting my truck so I took it to my mechanic a few days ago and they called and told me my fuel pump was failing.  The installed a new fuel pump and when I went to pick up my truck it took me 3 tries to get it to crank.  I drove it home (10 miles) and called them back and told them it still was not cranking right.  They said they were 100% sure it was the fuel pump and that it had air in the line and would be fine once the air got out of the line.  It has been 3 days and it is getting worse instead of better.  What should I do at this point?
I paid them $420 for the fuel pump and $215.00 for labor to install in and I am no better off.

Answer
This vehicle also has problems with the fuel pressure regulator , you did not give the engine
size , this would be helpful.

As to what you should do now , the original problem is still there and the idea that it was
not starting properly because of "air in the lines" wrong. after we replace the fuel pump on
these (i hope they replaced the fuel filter too) we cycle the key twice to the run position in
order to bring fuel pressure up and start the car . no problem.

I always say you should let a repair shop have the opportunity to correct their mistakes and i
recommend this now. Talk to the manager or owner and let them know about the problem and that
you expect them to correct it .

I don't know what state you are in , however most states have consumer affairs or some agency
that takes complaints and acts on them.
