Chevrolet Repair: 1995 gmc p/u hesitation up to 2500 rpms., cat converter, ok check

Question
hi robert,my truck is an auto, with a 5.7 motor.Regardless of what gear im in,the motor hesitates up 2500rpms,then it clears, and i have full power. It feels like its starving for gas.I did replace cap, rotor, fuel filter, plugs a few months prior to this problem. It does not shift very timly either, if you were to push the speed prior to the 2500-2600rpm range. The key is it smoothing out after this rpm range,in every gear.thank you.

Answer
Hi Roger.... check that you have a proper working EGR....if not replace it...if ok check to see if you have a plugged cat converter... quick check for that is to disconnect the exhaust before the cat and go for a drive...if truck runs fine with cat disconnected then replace it...plugged catwill make engine run crappy and will affect shift...if fixing engine problem doesnt coorrect trans shift try setting TV cable... where the cable attaches at the throttle there will be a button on the cable...push the button and open the throttle all the way... relese button then relese cable...do it again just to be sure you made the adjustment... truck should shift better now.... hope this helps
