Chevrolet Repair: Air in fuel filter, pet cock, fuel filter

Question
My Duramax gets air in the fuel, and wont start after about two days. And it has to crank longer to start after even a half a day.

I can hand pump the filter to start it. And it runs good down the road.

I just bought it last week. So could it be as simple as needing a new filter?

Answer
It sounds like someone replaced the filter and just never primed it right.  When the truck is cold pump the filter housing till it gets hard.  Then start the truck and repeat the process 2 or 3 times.  This should get all the air out.  Also you can try to bleed the bottom of the fuel filter housing but turning the pet cock under the filter.  Once you do that do the same process described before.  That should take care of it.
