Chevrolet Repair: chevy silverado 1500 V6, clutch slave cylinder, clutch alignment tool

Question
I push in the clutch and it went into gear . but the clutch didn;t come back up as usual. It was very slow coming up, when I parked it and cut the engine i seen smoke coming from underneath. The clutch fluid was dripping on something hot. I beleive it is the master cyclinder(only from reading the other answers) but I don;t know where it is and what it looks like. Please help I have never prplaced one, I have only done plugs , wires and brakes. Is it very difficult to change a clutch master?

Answer
The clutch master is located on the firewall, not too bad to do.  But if you are talking about the clutch slave cylinder, then yes, it is very difficult if this is your first time.  you will need to remove the trans to do the slave, and need a clutch alignment tool as well.  The master located on the firewall, is pretty straight forward.  It is bolted inside the cab and there's a rod that connects to the clutch pedal.  Disconnect the rod clip, unbolt the master for the clutch, disconnect the clutch hydraulic line, and replace unit.  Replace the new unit.  Then when all parts ahve been installed, go to the bottom of the trans where the slave cylinder is, you will see a nut on the slave.  it's usually a 10mm bolt.  fill the master open the bolt until all air has been released
