Chevrolet Repair: 1997 Chevy Blazer key stuck in ignition, chevy blazer, key stuck in ignition

We have a customer at our shop who has a 1997 S-10 Blazer that every so often, the key will not turn completely off-allowing the key to come out.  Wait 30 to 60 seconds and usually it will  come out.  The customer is fearful that someday it may not come out and...The engine always turns off.  Thanks in advance for any info-just don't want to guess wrong!  Don't we all!  Thx jp

This is the only year the blazers went to a floor shifter for the automatics, 9 out  of ten times the shifter doesn't seat properly to the park position.  That would be the first thing to check.  Second thing would be the release mechanism behind the ignition switch, sometimes it gets caught with dirt, clean it out and should be okay
