Chevrolet Repair: chevy s10, a 1982w/2.8 motorw/5sp, chevy s10, clutch cable

clutch cable installation, how do you do it? i tried and the cable will not stay where it should, above the clutch peddle is the detent & detent pin, a bumper? and a spacer. what am i doing wrong?

Hi David.... to try to explain it would be a long note.... easy way is to go to local dealer and get a expanded printout of the cable and pedal instalation area... you may find it on the web as well...when you look at the drawing you will see how the cable is routed and connected to the pedal....hope this helps....
