Chevrolet Repair: 91 chevy silveraldo half ton 4 wheel drive, crane cams, stock heads
91 chevy
hey i was wondering if you had any tips on my engine i took out my 350 and was going to have it bored 30 over and make it 383 . if you were going to drive it on the street what cam size would you use and would i get plenty of power out of my stock heads and the tbi .or would you do something different. any thoughts on this would be great. thanks phil.

Answer
HI phil...all that would depend on what you want from the truck...do you want more power to pull or more go off the line...if you want more power go for a cam that has a good long duration with about a 108 centerline and not huge lift and upgrade to 202 heads...if you want some snap off the line... high lift short duration stay about the same centreline, 108/110 you would need to upgrade the computer chip for the changes...if i remember right Crane cams have a computer tool that you can use where you can enter the info about your engine and it will tell you what cam is suited to the those specs... always put in a double roller timing chain and gears with new cam as they tend to streach less....remember that AIR makes horsepower not fuel...so the better the engine breathes the more horsepower you make...hope this helps
