Hi, My question is about my 2000 Chevy Astro van. The brake light comes on after I hit a bump and stays on. I was told it could be the ECBM (electric control brake modular)and I was wondering how can one tell? I also wonder does it have to cost around 900.00 to replace one? or What else could it be the reasoning for the brake light to come on?

Make sure that the ground to the module is good.  The only way to tell if it is defective is with a GM scan tool and knowledge of the electrical system.  They are not terribly uncommon to fail so I wouldnt be surprised.  When they fail I give clients the option of a new one or used from the wreckers.  A used one can be as inexpensive as 50-100 bucks.
