Chevrolet Repair: wipers wont park, torx screw, park position

Question
QUESTION: i'm having a problem with my wipers not returning to the park position. they work fine in all operating modes on the switch. now this happened for several days then out of no where they went back into park position. then that seem to have lasted about a week now there back to the same problem. when they are turned off they park straight up and down. i found a local junk yard with several impala's any help on what parts need replacing. thanks....

ANSWER: I assume its a late model impala?  The park mechanism is on top of the motor held on by a torx screw.  Get a NEW one.  Used ones are usually no good. (yours is used, you used it).  You are going to want the instructions on how to set it up and tehy come in the delco box.

QUESTION: sorry i forgot the year it is a 2000 impala. didn't no if that might change your diagnostic of the problem. thanks again.

Answer
Hey,

Its definitely the park mechanism that is mounted on top of the motor.  This mechanism is approximately 50 bucks and is easy to replace.  If you do want to use a used one.  Take a look closely at the motor. There is a little tab on the motor steel base that teh park cam is supposed to catch on the way by.  If this tab is bent (which they usually are) then you might be able to fix it without parts.
