Question
i have a convertible car and i am in need of repair on the top cover, and trunk lock.  The top is vinyl do we change the vinyl it-self or can we switch the frame with a new one, not sure what to do.  the trunk lock is also broke but i think i can change the lock and redo the wiring, is it very hard to do.
thanks for the help on the truck

Answer
Hey Amy,

The trunk lock is a beeze to do.  Is it not releasing from the inside or does the key not go in the lock?

The convertible top is one of the most frustrating repairs in the industry and I don't envy those who are doing them.  It would be easier to get an entire top including framework then re-upholstering the one you have.  They require special tools, adhesives, stitching and sometimes modification to the new cover.  I have 3 convertibles myself.  A 1971 Eldorado, 1971 Mercedes 450sl and a 1930 Model A roadster.  I have and can done everything to them but when it comes to the tops I took the Cadillac to an upholstery shop, they had it for two weeks trying to get the top on right and it still didn't work properly once the new material was on it.  It took almost 5 months sitting in storage for the top to finally stretch out and close properly and it took me days to get it adjusted right.  NEVER AGAIN!
