Chevrolet Repair: Starting Issues, bendix, flywheel

My car sat for about 4 months without being driven or even started.I jumped it Yesterday and as I was driving it shut off on me.I checked the battery,It was dead.I replaced it and now I get sound like a fan or something when I turn the key but I get no turn over from the engine. Sounds like maybe the starter is spinning but possibly not catching the flywheel But I'm really just not sure.Any Suggestions?

Is the new battery dead?  Sounds like you either have a problem with the bendix not coming out all the way.  It could be because of low voltage or a bad starter.  I would load test the battery, check the connections and fuse links and then try and boost it anyways.  If none of that works it sounds like it needs a starter.
