Chevrolet Repair: 2001 chevy 2500HD drivers side window off track, chevy 2500hd, gm motor

The driver's side window first would not go up or down and motor was making a grinding noise.  We got window up, but it does not respond to controls.  Also if the door is slammed or I hit a bump the window will inch its way down.  How do I remove the panel to put the window on track?  Or do I need a new motor?  Thanks for you time.

Sorry for the delay my dad had a bypass surgery on Tuesday and I am just getting to these messages now.

If it has autodown on the switch it could be a faulty switch but it sounds liek the motor.  The door panel screws come out and it comes off of the clips.  IF you have never done a GM motor before and don't have the special rivet gun forget about it.
