Chevrolet Repair: 99 Chevrolet Malibu 3.1, starter solenoid, chevrolet malibu

Question
sometimes this car turns over perfect, but most times when I turn the key it does turn over, but you have to either keep holding the key or turn the key back and start over before it will start.  It always does start but most times after having that issue. Its also normally when its been sitting all night when it does that. If I go to start it when its still warm it does that some but most times when warm it'll start right up. Any idea would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hey,

YOu could either have a problem with the ignition switch or the starter solenoid.  YOu need to check for 12v positive on the starter solenoid when you are cranking it.  That would be the easiest way to start off.  IF no voltage on the starter then trace back to the switch.
