Chevrolet Repair: 2004 Chebvrolet Avalanche 5.3 v8 z71, intake manifold gasket, service intervals

Question
I have over 130000 miles and all are highway miles.  I was told when i went to get my last oil change i needed to change the intake manifold gasket? Can someone with hardly any under the hood experience do this? also what else should i do to get my vehicle in good running shape..change any fluids or anything else like that...

Answer
Hey,

It is very possible that the intake is leaking and I would not attempt this without the proper hand tools and or experience.  IT is a fairly involved repair and can take upwards of 4-6 straight hours with pneumatic tools.  Your service intervals are in your owners manual and if you go to quickie lubes be sure to visit a local mechanic for a complete inspection once a year.
