1997 Chevrolet Malibu 3.1, V6 -- Heat/AC fan switch only works in position #4 & 5.

Hey Jerry,

  The resistor block is defective.  IT is located under the glovebox beside the fan and is mounted to the heater box.  Unplug it, remove and replace it and you will be good to go.  They are approximately 25 dollars and take about 10 min to replace.
