Chevrolet Repair: starter for a 6.2 liter diesal, bolt holes, thread pitch

QUESTION: i have 85 k5 blazer with a 6.2 diesal where the starter mounts the hole has became egg shaped i was wondering if thats a problem and can it be fixed

Hey,

 That's not a major problem.  Those holes can be easily drilled out to a larger size, re-threaded and a heli-coil installed so the same size, thread pitch, grade bolts can be used.

Make sure whoever installs the heli-coils knows what they are doing.  You only get one shot at this.
