Chevrolet Repair: 35 engine questions, chevy c50, torque specs

QUESTION: I have a 350 motor I got from a junk yard to rebuild to put in my 1074 Monte Carlo.  The engine I got is from a 1970 chevy C50.  I need to know the Torque specifications, and timing.  Please let me know.  Thanks for your help. -Dee-Jay

ANSWER: Hi Debra.... which torque specs do you need....timing could be either 6 or 8 degrees before TDC. give me a list of the specs you need and i will dig them up for you... hope this helps...

Hi Debra... are you using the dist for the monte carlo. if you are try it at 8 degrees BTDC. you may have to play with it a little because the monte dist is HEI and the one from the 1970 engine was points...just make sure if you put new timing chain and gears that the marks on the timing gear and crank point towards each other. crank should point up and cam gear mark should point down directly at the crank mark...i would suggest if changing timing chain and gears go to a double roller type set.don't forget to change the plugs if using HEI dist...hope this helps
