Chevrolet Repair: air conditioning, heat duct, freon

Question
the air is warm so i was going to put in a can of freon and the gauge was in the red zone i put a little in and stopped the clutch is engaged whats up with this thing

Answer
This is vague.  What kind of car is this?  What year?

If the guage says you are already in the red, then don't add more.  YOu could actually have too much pressure and this will shut the system down on some cars.

Are you sure you are supposed to use freon, or r-134a?  You didn't mix them by accident I hope.  This will turn to gel, when the gases mix together.

How about this?  Is your heat duct door stuck on heat?  Maybe you selected A/C and still have heater.  This door is usually vacuum operated.  It can also stick in place from hot temps in the interior during the summer.

Plugged orafice tube will stop flow to the evaporator inside the car.  Sometimes they are hard to find.  Try changing that.  This may also cause a high pressure in the system.

Good luck.
