I am trying to locate the thermastat on a 2000 jetta 1.8t engine

Hi Kevin, I do not have the thermostat location for the 2000 Jetta 1.8t engine.

I do have location instructions for a 2003 Jetta 1.8.  Try this, and see if the location makes sense.  I'm pretty sure that the 00's and 03's are in the same location.

The thermostat is located behind the alternator on the front of the engine block. You might need to pull the alternator unless you can get your hands in there. Access thermostat with either a box wrench or socket, and open the plastic housing up and pull the old thermostat out and replace it with the new thermostat and gasket.

Let me know if this is the correct location, and it will help me update my records as well.
