Chevrolet Repair: 97 Chevy Cavalier Theft System, chevy cavalier, chevy dealership

Question
I sure hope someone can help! I have a 97 Chevy Cavalier. That will not start , lights work, stereo etc. but when u click it over to start it does nothing and Theft light is staying on. A couple days ago was doing same thing but if we left car ignition on for 10 to 20 min it would start now it won't. Is there anyway I can fix this problem without it costing me a fortune$$$.

Answer
As explained to me by a Chevy dealership:

This system is whacked!!!

When this happens, turn the key on like the car is running, put it into neutral and push the car into a curb.  Then back it up and push it into a curb again.  Each time making the car jar around.  You should be bumping the tires against the curb, not any body panels.

Wait 20 minutes and wha-la!  The car starts.

They say you must simulate the movements a car goes through while being loaded on a flat bed, driven to a dealership and unloaded from the flat bed.  The trip takes usually 20 minutes with the key on, and the car will bump around going down the road.  This activity will reset the theft system.

How much do we pay for these cars?????  I wonder if that technology is ingenious, or ignorant.  The ingenious part is where they charge you $200 for the repair once the car is unloaded...and they didn't do a %@**^ thing.

If this happens a lot, you know like 6 times, then your system may be going bad.  Dealer only repair.  They got you for $600+.  I know 6 times seems like a lot of failures, but remember THIS SYSTEM IS WHACKED!!!!
