Chevrolet Repair: Troubleshooting...., chevy s10 blazer, s10 blazer

Question
I have a 1989 Chevy S10 Blazer 4.3 and just recently when I am driving it will just stop like you have turned the key off, it will re start but sometimes acts like it is not going to.  We checked the ignition module and it was fine.  What else could it be?

Answer
HI Deborah,

First you must determine if you are losing fuel or spark.  Or you must determine if it is a loose connection.

Look at the battery posts and cables.  Any corrosion or bad looking condition?

Next time it gives you trouble restarting, check to make sure the fuel pump is running at the turn of the key.  You should hear a short hum from the fuel tank.  You can listen at the rear tire.  If you have access to a timing light and a fuel pressure guage, use these next time the truck doesn't want to restart.

Off hand, I would guess the fuel pump is starting to fail.
