The battery has gone dead.Cannot open the hood from the dash.How can I open the hood without destroying the grill.

Hi Bill,

Look inside the grill.  Do you see a black cable leading toward the latch?  Grab that black cable and pull it.  I will snap the outer cover and the cable inside will be free to move and pop the hood.  I used to do this on my Mustang.  I had shaved door handles with electric solenoids that opened the door.  I was afraid of not getting at the battery if it went dead.  

If you don't see the cable through the grill, then I assume the handle broke off inside the truck.  Break the cable housing inside the van and use pliers to pull the cable that is inside.  

If the cable broke at the latch, that will be a problem.  I am afraid in that case you will need to get the grill out to get access to the latch.  The grill should unbolt from the front of the truck.  At least enough to get your arm behind it.
