Chevrolet Repair: set timing, chevy blazer, timing chain

Question
i have a 1995 chevy blazer Ls with a 4.3 liter i am changing the timing chain and gear and would like to know which piston need to be on tdc to align the gears. been told it depend on the vin as mine is a W vin but would like info for both the W vin and Z vin: thanks.

Answer
In 1995 the only vin they have for that is the W. As far as that goes you would set #1 at tdc just like normal. I did some checking because I have never heard of anything like this and my guys say they haven't either. But if your ever not sure, the easiest way to do it is before you take anything apart is put number one at tdc and then start tearing it apart, then just put the new parts in the way the old ones came out.
