Chevrolet Repair: engine swap out, blazer s10, s10 blazer

Question
QUESTION: i have a 1988 chevy blazer s10 with a blown 4.3(not the vortec one, injectors are are the carb) motor. i want to put in a 1993 s10 blazer 4.3 vortec. is this a possible to do this swap? would i have to use the wiring harness off the 93?

ANSWER: Yes it is possible but you are in for a long haul here. You will have to use all the components from the 93 including dash instruments as well. You would have to use the computer, all the under hood wiring, most of the wiring and switch's from the 93. It's fairly simple but very tedious. There will be some custom work needed also on your half. If your not mechanically inclined I would go against the idea on the account of the time and money needed to get this done, if your not absolutely sure you can do it, it could get frustrating and costly.

QUESTION: what kind of custome work? is the motor itself bigger than the one in the 88.? i have all the parts that are needed like the dash, computer, ect. us there anything else i would need?

Answer
As far as the custom work I meant mounting locations, brackets may be different, a/c components, dash modifications. Will the motor mounts bolt right up, transmission to engine bolt up, if not you will have to use the motor mounts from the vortec and mount them on the 88, if the tranny doesn't bolt up you will have to use the newer one and possibly change the crossmember on the 88 to fit the newer tranny and what about the driveshaft? Not saying all this is the case because I have never done this kind of swap but these are some things to think about.
