Chevrolet Repair: replacing fuel lines, chevy pickup, two tanks

Question
i own an 86' chevy pickup and the previous owner removed 1 of 2 gas tanks. when i purchased it, it would turn over but it would not start. he said its the fuel line and im not doubting him because he had it parked on a slant downwards and he said he saw it leaking so im guessing it all just leaked out. So im just wondering how to find and replace the line and if thats not why it wont start, what else it could possibly be. If you could write me back i would greatly appreciate it... Thank you.

Answer
Hi Zac,

You are on the right track.  The obvious is the best place to start.  When you have two tanks, you have a solenoid that switches between the two.  Now that you only have one tank, you can bypass that solenoid when you install the new lines.  You could run all new metal lines from the tank to the injector/carb.  You could also simply run fuel rated rubber line from the last piece of good line at the tank, to the last piece of good line at the injector.  Remember to run these lines in areas where they will be protected from damage.

Not a tough job.  Rust in your face, is the bigges pit fall.
