Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): weedeater shaft/quicklink, bob barlow, link attachment

Question
hey john, have a troy- bilt,4 stroke manu by mtd runs great after 3 years my attachments wont spin under load had the local repair shop take a look at it and i spent good money for nothing they didnt test correctly but did replace a fuel line for 60 bucks so i cut 3/4 of an inch off the main shaft to allow the quick link attachment to seat better and its working now ! Question was that a decent repair and do you think it will last for awhile,Also ibought a remanufactured yard machine weedeater(identical except for the decals)and it has the same problem right out of the box returning it is  not an option due to shipping costs,Do you recommend the same fix or is there another way Thanks Bob Barlow

Answer
Hello Bob:

The Shop Does that Type of Repair when a New Part is No Longer Avaliable. It Seems to Last as Long as a New Part Does. Sometimes we have to Dress Up the Drive where it Fits Into the Atachment, but Other than that; I have had No Complaints. I Usually Charge a Minimum of $20.00us Dollars to make the Modification to the Shaft and I Require Written Permission Before Doing this Type of Repair. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem, then I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
