Question
QUESTION: my question is how can i tell if its a 350 or 305 when i bought the car the guy told me it was a 350 but i dunno how to tell forsure and the other question was what type of muffler shoukld i go with if i want a nice rumble i like flowmaster myself but some people tell me it will be to loud ? yes its true dual exhaust right now but it has stock mufflers on it not loud enough lol thanks alot

ANSWER: If you can get to it usually on the drivers' side behind the head on the block itself on the flat part the tranny bolts to there should be a stamped # there. If it is a 350 it should be stamped 5.7. If you want a good growl to the exhuast I would go with a 40 series flowmaster. That will give it a good growl without the popping of a glass pack. When you ask for the mufflers, ask for a 40 series flowmaster, they should know what your talking about. They are also about 85 dollars a piece.

QUESTION: ok cool sounds good thanks  with those mufflers will i have to replace the headers ?or just replace the mufflers
just say its a 305 4 barrel i heard if i change the cam in it to a 350 cam i will get a huge amount of extra horsepower is that true or not ?

Answer
As far as the headers go your already on your way to sounding good, if it has headers then your already getting good flow and the new mufflers will just add to that. As far as the cam, to get a good running engine with that setup you would also have to bore the cylinders and make it a 327. There is alot of work involved to put that big of a cam in it anyway. You would have to get the cam journals machined to fit the bigger bearings. Your looking at alot of money to get the work done to it but if you got it, why not. A 327 is a pretty snappy engine with a lot of top end power.
