Chevrolet Repair: 91 Chevy Truck wants to stall, remanufactured pumps, chevy silverado

Question
I have a high mileage(250,000)'91 Chevy Silverado that I have had the fuel pump replaced twice in 12,000 miles. It always is the same problem. The vehicle begins to feel like the gas is cutting out. Like all of the sudden it is starving for fuel. It has cut out completely twice now and the fuel pump was replaced both times (same mechanic; no labor charge second time but paid for second new fuel pump). Now, 5000 miles after second new fuel pump, it is beginning to act like it wants to cut out, though it hasnt completely, on a few occasions. What could it be?

Answer
Hi Justin,

I can believe a bad pump once, but not twice.  I suspect the wiring.  You may be developing a short.  Have the mechanic splice a new set of wires to bypass the old ones.  Also look at the connector for problems.

If these are remanufactured pumps, insist on a NEW one.
