Chevrolet Repair: tranny mafunctions, crank sensor, output shaft

Question
not a chevy but all the mopar guys are "maxed out"
daughters 94 lebaron is having tranny malfunctions. no codes come up! won't up-shift, skips gears downshifting, or speedo goes dead (then won't up shift). we just turn key off and all is well for a few miles then starts again turn off restart works fine. lack of codes has me stumped where to start? fluid looks new, bright red and clean . what about just cleaning all elect connections to trans?

Answer
Hi Steve,

Well I am not entirely familiar but here goes.

If you are electronic, sounds like solenoids issues.  I know Chrysler has problems with many of their trannies.

The fact that the speedo goes dead and problems appear together, and the shifting issues, I suspect the speed sensor.  Shifting up is the job of the govenor.  If electrical, then the job is replaced with speed sensor.

Probably found on the side of the transmission near the output shaft.  Probably small and looks like a crank sensor.  Probably %50ish, but Chrysler tends to be pricey.

Good luck.
