Chevrolet Repair: vacuum hose on 95 monte carlo z34, vacuum tester, vacuum hose

Question
my car became very hard to start and ran really rough; I works for a tire and battery place, so one of the guys took a look at it, and said the vac hose needed to be replaced. It was split. I replaced it, but it still dies in the morning when I am trying to go to work. It also surges when stopped at a light. Any help would be appreciated.

Answer
I wonder what the vacuum hose went to. At first thought I would say that the egr valve is sticking. If you have a check engine light I would go to somewhere like autozone and they can run the code for you. If the code refers to what the vacuum hose was connected to I would say to clear it and see if that helps. If it is still messing up go ahead and see if they can check the egr valve also. They should be able to run a vacuum tester on it and see if its working properly. Don't know if thats it but it's a good place to start.
