Chevrolet Repair: 1994 chevy s-10, starter solenoid, vacuum test

Question
I have a 1994 chevy s-10 and it will turn over but it wont start and the engine makes a clicking noise do you know what it is.

Answer
Hi Tyler,

No I don't know what that can be.  I need more information.  This clicking noise, does it come from high or low on the motor?  Is it from inside or outside?  Is it front or back?  What did the motor do prior to the problem?  How long has the problem been present?  Was it sudden?  Anything the truck did prior to the problem?

Clicking is usually the starter solenoid.  This would not go along with the motor turning over.  Unless the click is the pinion engaging the flywheel.  That would be a low and rearward click.

Clicking could be a pulley or accessory on front of the motor.  Not likely.

Clicking from inside could be pushrod, rocker, so other internal broken part.  That should show up on a vacuum test while cranking.

You want to take compression readings, vacuum on cranking, spark from coil wire as motor cranks.  Find which system is not working and that leads us to the beginning to solving the problem.

Good Luck!
