Chevrolet Repair: 1987 Chevy S10 parking brake light, chevy s10, back of the cab

I have a 1987 Chevy S10 P/U 4WD 2.8 V6. When I release the parking brake, the brake light stays on. This just happened. Any clues? Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi Michael,
It could be just the switch above the parking brake lever.
There could also be a pressure problem in the system, like air.
I would also check the high mount stop light, if you have one on the back of the cab. if the bulbs are blown, it can cause the brake light to stay on in some vehicles.
