Chevrolet Repair: serpentine belt, question pool, serpentine belt

Question
How do you change the serpentine belt on a 01 S10 p/u, 4.3L V6, its the tensioner arm I'm having trouble with, how do you remove the tension from the arm?

Answer
Hi Bobby,

I am browsing the question pool (of unanswered questions) and came across your problem.

The tensioner, once you have determined which it is, is released by swinging it.  YOu can use a tool for this, or use a combination wrench.  It is usually metric, probably a 14mm or 15mm.  You put the wrench on the bolt in the middle of the pulley, and rotate the pulley away from the tension of the belt.  With your other hand, slip the belt off of a pulley (nearest and easiest one).  Then slowly let the tensioner swing back to it the at-rest position.  Retensioning is in reverse.

I don't know if you still need this advice, but that is how it is done.
