Chevrolet Repair: 98 astro door handle r&r, torx bolts, service tool

Can't seem to remove driver side handle.  no space for tool to remove nuts.  is a special service tool required?

Hi Levi,

Make sure the window is up.  This is going to need a small socket set.  You need to find out if they are regular bolts or torx bolts holding this on.  You will probably not find an easy way to reach these bolts.  You will work by feel.  Once the two bolts are out, the handle will be loose.  From the outside, pull it out with the rod still attached.  Then once outside the door shell, disconnect the rod.  Connect rod to the new handle.  Reinstall the bolts.
