Chevrolet Repair: 2000 S10 pickup water leak, chevy s10 pickup, s10 pickup

Question
This started just recently. When it rains water leaks into my 2000 Chevy S10 pickup on the passenger side floor.  I had the windshield checked at a glass shop and they said it was not the source of the leak.

Answer
Hi Jerry,

I have to believe that it is coming from the windshield.  However, the experts say not, then we must look elsewhere.

I would start by going to a coin car wash; you know, the do-it-yourself ones.  Have someone else with you, maybe even two people.  Have them sit in the front seats.  Put the spray on rinse, and turn the thing on.  Spray that high pressure spray all around the window seal.  Start at the bottom and work up.  If the helpers don't see water coming in, spray around the passanger door seal.  If that doesn't work, spray around the cowl (where the wipers are mounted).  If that doesn't work, spray around the hood and cowl.  Then open the hood and spray around the cowl and hood seal at the cowl.

Don't spray any motor components, or anything on the firewall that shouldn't get wet.  The pressure of the spray should rifle the water into the truck...where ever the leak is.  If you find a leak, use household caulk to fill it in.  The same type you use on your windows at home.

I had a profuse leak on my 1990 Mark VII.  It poured in from the windshield seal.  I popped the metal trim off of the window, and filled the gap between the pillar and window glass with the caulk.  Then replaced the trim.  For a few days, the white caulk would bleed white when rain or water hit it.  But once it dried, it has been great.

Hope this helps.
