Chevrolet Repair: 1990 Chevy 1500 oil pressure, oil pressure gauge, 1990 chevy 1500

I have oil pressure problems with my 1990 chevy 1500 with 350 crate motor and a high performance oil pump (less than 2 years old).  When I stop the oil pressure gauge bottoms out then maxes and bottoms out again and stays there.  I have tried changing the oil per a friend with no luck.  Please help, I would like to fix it before something worse happens.  Thank You

Hi Clayton,

It is probably a faulty oil sending unit.  Make sure you are getting oil at the top of the motor, by pulling the valve covers and seeing if oil is spraying out there.  Get an external oil pressure tester.  Make sure your pressure is good.
