Chevrolet Repair: wiper moter, windshield wiper motor, crank arm

Question
I replaced the windshield wiper motor on my 1997 cavalier and it has the proper range of motion when in use,but when it's turned to the off position it stops in the middle of the windshield. Did I get a bad motor, or is there an adjustment to be made?
        Thanks.

Answer
Hi Bill, there is a correct position for the part that you put on the motor with the 30 torx screw. Without pictures it is very hard to tell you how to do it. Try to find something on the web on installing the wiper crank arm to the wiper motor.

I'll try here to tell you, with the wiper crank arm off the motor turn the wipers on in the delay mode. when the wiper motor stops for the delay turn off  the KEY. Now you can install the crank arm to the motor, there is a small tab on  the crank arm that has to contact the tab on  the bracket. The tabs need to be 5mm apart, this is where you tighten the torx screw.

This should take of the problem
