Chevrolet Repair: Chevy G20 van radiator removal, chevy g20 van, torx socket

Question
What kind of bolts are holding the radiator bracket?  The head has ridges all the way around.  How do I unscrew them?

Answer
Hi Warren,

I am not sure what you mean by 'ridges'.  Usually they are 10mm, or 1/2" sockets.  If you have an usuaual one, it could be a Torx bit, reverse Torx, or a Hex bit.  Torx looks like a 'star' in the center.  Reverse Torx looks like the Torx socket is in the hole.  Your socket end will look like a regular socket, except the part that goes over will have more teeth.  Sometimes a 12-point will work on these...if they are not too tight.  Hex looks like you need an allen wrench.  Other than that, I don't know what they used.  May be aftermarket...someone used something they shouldn't have.

Hope this helps.
