Chevrolet Repair: a/c on 1996 chevy asto van, riding dirt bikes, leak charge

My blower for my a/c and heater only blows on high and now does not blow cold air.  Do I just need to add freon and can I buy this at a auto store and do it myself.  In other words it really easy to do myself?

Hi Cindy,  Sorry I didn't get back to you very fast, I was out riding dirt bikes for the first time this year. For the blower motor you need to replace the  resistor which is located right next to the blower motor. Be sure to check the terminals in the connector for melted wiring, if it is they also have a repair connector sold at the dealer. The A/C problem could just be low or have a leak, big leak=problem, small leak=charge it. The only way to find out is put freon in it, you should be able to do this.
