Chevrolet Repair: 1988 Chevy Corvette Flip-up Headlights., chevy corvette, pain in the butt

I have a 1988 Chevy Corvette and when I turn the headlights on they sometimes flip all the way up or only half way up.  It could be either the drivers side or passengers side or both.  When a light does flip all the way up, it can sometimes go back to the halfway position has I hit bumps in the road.  The headlights are coming on, they are just illuminating the inside of the hood.  I have used the manual knobs to put the headlights up in the past, but they have stop working or like I stated previously allow the lights to go back to the halfway position when I hit bumps in the road.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

sounds like you need to replace both modules that turn the lights up. are they vaccuum controlled, or electric. 88 might be one of those years where it could be either or. at any rate, i would not recommend doing this yourself. its a pain in the butt to replace them.
