Chevrolet Repair: pick up coil, ohmeter, ohm meter

Question
I own a 1993 Chevy 3/4 Ton Suburban with a 454. The engine quite running. It turns over but won't fire. The battery is good. I tested the coil with and ohmeter and its fine. I tested the pick up coil with an ohm meter and it needs to be replaced but I can't figure out how to remove it. The distributor cap is off, the plastic rotor is off, the ignition module is disconnected and removed, but the unit (I don't know what it is called) on top of the pick up coil does not come off. I don't see where there are any screws/bolts attaching it. Is it a press fit? Do I need to use a puller? or is there something I'm missing?

Answer
you should be able. to take that out. its been a while, but im pretty sure you have to pull the distributor and i think there is a retainer down there you have to take off. if all else fails, get a chilton, or haynes guide. they are not good for much, but i think they will give you a good breakdown of the dist. so you can see how it comes apart. good luck.
